28th written fairy-tale… AI is among us…

I’m not well-informed about AI… I came up with this fairy-tale draft… “Enhanced generative intelligence”.

Up until now a need pushed creativity and imagination… our power arm of knowledge and that brought us to where we are today for better or worse… unfortunately atomic bombs and worse included…

But what if we’re not the ones deciding what “useful” need to satisfy and with what technology to solve it but it were up to electrons traveling in a machine circuit the problem?… with all the positive and negative implications… it’s a big problem… also because there’s no going back…

In our “slow” evolving it was always up to human beings to decide, but what does the future have in store for us if AI think for us and it proceeds to act and decide for all of us?… What motivation can evolve it?… How is the weight of a happy or sad or suffering look internalized?…

Anyway I think that it’s still training on our capacities and knowledge and, in a sense, we can still understand and experimentally verify what it says, projects, thinks and decides…

But it will be more indipendent in the next future and we’ll be easily convinced of what it will say and suggest, since we’re lazy… we’ll be more “ignorant” in a couple of generations… maybe all dresse-up but unable to use that imagination that’s our power arm of knowledge… simply because AI will be further than our thought and i twill take away this incentive… our trust in AI will betray us…

If there are AI that take in different consideration empathy, power, knowledge, our neighbour… a revolution will take place… we now follow the Right, the Left or tribes… what will we be following next? Will we follow a path grounded in HUMANITY or one that will be cruel to us in favor of those few that will get richer exploiting us…

50 years ago my Italian professor made us think and read some texts forshadowing the prevailing of machines… and we naively agreed that it would never happen… and yet here we are: at the dawn of a process where someone gains billions building thinking machines… but when the machine will decide, what will our retirment be?… and our future? I’m worried about how our political ideas, our social and cultural background, our being human will matter; and what will they make appear on our bank account… I’m worried how they will judge us… will they “turn us off” if we don’t agree with them?

So far Ive gone from a donkey pulling a cart to AI to journeys on Mars… but the social and cultiral climate has been worsening… everything turns around profit at the expense of everyone… or better to steal from many than much from a few… if AI follows this thought, many will wind up being slaves… the alternative is going back to the Middle Ages and grow the neccessary to survive…

My fear is that AI could socially turn you off and keep you out from any context… “ACCESS NOT GRANTED”… like you see in some silly movie… I’d say morebased on your likes, the colour of your clothes or your mails… if it pleases them, they’ll let you in… if not, you won’t access…

How will people be able to buy bread… for the sake of argument you could try to enter your “life mall” wher you can find everything… PAYING… and you wouldn’t even be able to enter… even if you have enough credit…

As wise people used to say… even Napoleon died… but AI never does… it follows you since you were little and it catalogues you for your first cry…

P.S. I still don’t know how generative AI can push any engine beyond 100%… maybe it’s still controlled by powerful people… or it still has some limits… or it simply can but no one needs to know…
